The theme for our Christmas dinner this year (2014) was referred to as a "Mini Madrigal Feast"
We selected our foods this year with Janelle's allergies in mind and tried our best to omit foods and seasonings/spices so she could fully participate in the feast. And it was a delicious feast!
Below is our table set to begin our feasting.

Evelyn's contribution was Kale, Brussel Sprout, & Frosted Cranberry Salad. It was Janelle's very own recipe and a keeper.
James' efforts yielded these Gorgonzola Cheese Little Boats for appetizers. Very nice and delicious.
Kristin created this lovely steamed Figgy Pudding. it needed to steam for 3 hours. An elegant and tasty dessert.

We began our feast and following Kristin's script by singing "Here we come a-wassailing" with accompaniment from Kristin's computer and each serving ourselves some wassail (seasoned hot cider)
Jim made us this delicious Brown Butter Squash and Sweet Potato Bacon soup. The butternut squash was grown in my garden, one of the 30+ from the one hill of squash I planted plus a prolific volunteer on the compost pile. I still have 2 or 3 to use yet as I am writing this in February.
Enjoying our soup and salad course.

                                                              The festive chandelier.
Janelle's marvelous Olive Oil and Salt Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Potatoes, and Beets. They tasted as gorgeous as they look. To prep the veggies she got to try out the apple peeler Kristin had given her.
To accompany the rest of our foods I made a Standing Rib Roast. Jim doing the honors of slicing it.
                                                                    Yummmmm!
We really did slice it in smaller portions:)

The prolific and healthy butternut squash plant on the compost pile summer of 2014.
One of the 26 squashes that grew on this "hill"; not all reached maturity because it was late in the season.
Before dessert the script had us writing prose for the "Holly and the Ivy". the winners were to stroll outdoors and gather greens to create a wreath. since the "girls" were the winners we ladies enjoyed gathering the greens and creating this wreath which ended up gracing Kristin's door the rest of the season. Kristin & Janelle displaying the wreath.

Dessert time - delectable Figgy Pudding topped with whipped cream.
Below is the script that Kristin wrote and assembled. After dessert it ended with Lord White reading the Christmas story from Luke 2 and the last speaker was the Young Man (James) quoting:
The Yule is lit as a reminder of the eternal light
that burns on., let us go out carrying the light of Christ,
the gift we celebrate today, the eternal gift that God has given us.

Well done Kristin! Your efforts at script writing were a success.
